Annual appeal season is coming quick! Are you ready?
Below are 6 parts of a letter you MUST have when sending your appeal out to your constituency.
Salutation: If you want money from someone, you better know their name. Don't start your letter with "Dear Friend". Heading (or hook): Let the reader know immediately why they should keep reading. Body: Tell a compelling story but make sure it answers the most important question a donor will have; What's in it for me? The ask: This letter should have a call to action. Make your ask (request for money) obvious and direct. Signature: The personal the better. If anyone knows the intended donor, let them sign the letter. P.S.: If the donor doesn't read your entire letter, they will read your P.S. Make it count and restate your ask.
